Absolute Yachts has built an impressive reputation, particularly with its Navetta range of trawler-inspired yet highly contemporary yachts, complemented by equally modern flybridge models. However, the brand’s origins tell a different story.

Founded in 2002 by Marcello Be and Sergio Maggi, two contemporary motorboat pioneers, Absolute initially ventured into the marine industry with the Gobbi range, focusing on entry-level and mid-range sports yachts before the Azimut Group acquired it.

Drawing from their experience with Gobbi, it’s no surprise that Be and Maggi, when starting Absolute, initially concentrated on sports yachts, particularly in the owner-operated sector. These Absolute sports yachts were characterised by sleek, intelligent, and highly contemporary designs, gaining notable success in European and American markets.

Absolute then transitioned into the flybridge market, introducing modern examples primarily in the 12m—15 m size range. This shift towards a cruising ethos reached its pinnacle with the development of the Navetta range—a modern interpretation of the long-range, serious cruising yacht.

Throughout this journey, Absolute collaborated closely with Volvo Penta while developing the then-new pod drive technology, now branded as IPS. This collaboration led Absolute to predominantly adopt hull designs that leverage the efficiency and speed offered by pod drives.

The combination of engineering, design, and meticulous craftsmanship has resulted in highly sophisticated Absolute yachts renowned for their low sound levels, impeccable finishes, class-leading internal space, and exceptional cruising efficiency.
